WPU Band Visit Day 2015

Saturday, October 31st

We are inviting high school students interested in learning about our WPU Pride of Penn marching band program to join us for this day to participate in our pre-game performance and in the stands for our football game. The students then would be able to view our 2015 performance of our halftime show, giving them a perspective of our program structure and the quality of our group.
They would have the chance to meet and visit with our band and admission staff's to learn more about WPU and our generous scholarships we are offering for participation, and the opportunities to continue participating in marching band and the other music ensembles during their college years, despite their major of study.

There is no cost for this visit. Lunch and admission for the parents to the game will be provided.  Attending this visit day will also void the admission application fee.  If your would like to continue your stay following the game, we could also provide a campus tour.

Students interested in colorguard, I have a video links on the right side of this page available for learning the work prior to the visit day.

Since the game will start at 11:00 am on that day (and televised espn3), this forces us to begin things early.  Our tentative schedule will be:

8:30 - 9:00 am - Arrive and check in, at the Penn Activities Center (PAC) This is our indoor field house.

9:00 - 10:00 am - “Welcome” and rehearsal for the pre-game show. (At 9:50 the Pride of Penn will perform their 2015 halftime show “Night Watch” for you - indoors).

10:15 - meet at the stadium (Southwest entrance).

10:30 - warm-up (Southwest end zone track area).

10:45 - pre-game show

11:00 - game begins.  All visitors invited to play in the stand with the band (we stay for the entire game).  Our stand participation for the game is a "party"!!

During the 1st half: Our visiting group will meet with our staff and an admission's representative near our equipment trailer.  We will provide food for you and your family for lunch.

2:00 pm - game should be over with, which then we could commence with a quick campus tour and follow meeting at our newly acquired Marching band facility to view....And...

At that time we will have everyone there for a Chili, Ham & Beans (w/cornbread) and Pizza.  You may stay or stock up on food and go.  We may even have other surprise visitors there to meet you, including our “President” of the University.

During the game if you would like to visit more on a personal basis with our staff, that is encouraged!

The dress for this game for our visitors will be blue jeans, and warm (coats) on top.  We may also supply our band coats/raincoats for the day. (They are warm).

* You are not required to stay for the full day, but encouraged to do so to get the full experience.

Music for the pre-game show (fight songs & National Anthem) will be emailed out 2 weeks prior to the game. (Some of our stand tunes may be included).

Flag routines will be on our website at least two weeks prior to the game.

A campus map and directions will also be included in the emails two weeks prior.

Last to mention since it is Oct 31st, Halloween, you may bring costumes to wear in the stands. (Our members will be doing the same).
