Audition Information:
Snares:
Snare line plays traditional grip. Specific style approach during camp, however brief descriptions:
RH - All wrist and finger action. No arms for normal playing. Very relaxed. Create fulcrum with thumb and forefinger, using wrist and 'bird' (3rd) finger for strokes and power. 4th and 5th fingers for stopping stick action for firm grip. 3rd finger ('bird') used for all technical diddle and rudimental applications.
LH - All wrist and finger action. No arms for normal playing. Very relaxed. Thumb (pointin up) on forefinger (first knuckle), which is on top of stick. 3rd finger ('bird') straight, stick rests on first knuckle of 4th finger which is curved and underneath the stick ( not on side ). Forefinger and thumb with wrist action for strokes with power. 4th finger used for all technical diddle and rudimental applications in coordination with forefinger. Palm of LH to face to the right and not upward.
Two main stick heights for general playing: 2 inches - all non accented notes, 12 " for accents.

Keyboards:

Experience on keyboards with 2 and four mallets and reading of both treble and bass clefs will help your audition chances. Both Stevens and Musser grips will be used with four mallet technique. Specific approach and techical aspects will be covered at camp.
